Commissioners review $5 million appropriation request for Middletown revitalization; four requisitions total $5.16 million

Dave McCormack, finance director for Butler County, gave the board an overview of the finance portion of the agenda on Jan. 27. He said juvenile services requested a $3,000 transfer into travel and training. McCormack told commissioners the general fund had a requested additional appropriation of $5,000,000 for a contribution to the Middletown Community Foundation for downtown revitalization; approval of a $5,000,000 requisition for the Foundation is contingent on the board approving the appropriation.

He also reported reductions in appropriations totaling $177,854.62 to eliminate over-appropriations in several funds and noted there were four requisitions over $25,000 this morning totaling $5,159,460. McCormack recommended approval of the finance items.

A motion to accept the finance report was made, seconded and approved by the commissioners. The board later approved finance-related resolutions as recorded on the consent agenda, with the approval of requisitions contingent upon formal appropriation action as required by county process.

Clarifying figures from the meeting: the requested appropriation to the Middletown Community Foundation is $5,000,000; total requisitions over $25,000 reported at the meeting equal $5,159,460; reductions to eliminate over-appropriations total $177,854.62.

The board recorded no changes to the appropriation during the meeting; the requisition for the Foundation remains contingent on appropriate appropriation approval in the county process.
