Butler County commissioners approve finance items, hires and wage adjustments; grant and requisition totals presented

The sheriff requested an additional $411,984 for salaries, benefits, supplies and inmate meals tied to a targeted Alternatives to Prison grant; an additional $161,750 was sought under the Opioid Remediation Grant for pharmacy and staffing costs.
The board voted to approve the finance items. Commissioners also approved two personnel appointments to the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Council: a reappointment of Michelle Wooliver (term Feb. 11, 2026–Jan. 31, 2028) and appointment of Lisa Dearling (Children’s Services director) with an effective term through Jan. 31, 2028. The human-resources announcement included five hires in Job and Family Services effective Jan. 26, 2026 (four eligibility referral specialists and one bilingual support worker) and named the recommended hires.
Administrators presented the 2026 wage-treatment program for non‑bargaining employees, estimating $445,000 in total adjustments (about $165,000 charged to the general fund) and explaining that part B payments will occur in two semiannual installments in June and December. The board approved resolutions for the commissioners’ departments, including the wage-treatment authorization.
The engineer requested the board allow the county to ask the Ohio Department of Transportation to lower the prima facie speed limit on Port Union Road between Fairfield Corporation and 0.34 miles west of State Route 747; commissioners approved that request without questions.
