Dickinson County sets March 17 hearing for Drainage District 6, approves road-application submission near Milford

Dickinson County supervisors accepted the Drainage District 6 improvement report and set a public hearing for March 17 at 9:00 a.m., then voted to authorize county staff to submit combined applications for L 6027330 road improvements near Milford.

During the meeting the board agreed to accept the D6 report and set the hearing after staff confirmed Jordan had coordinated the schedule. The motion to set the public hearing passed on a unanimous voice roll call.

County engineer Jeff asked the board to approve submission of a combined application to the chief judge for the L 6027330 project, which covers work at 200 13th Avenue and 230th Street southwest of Milford. “Zach and I have been working on this together the last few months, and I’m getting close to the point where I’ll be submitting this,” Jeff said, asking the board to authorize staff to move forward.

Jeff and other staff explained that submission to the judge begins a process that includes notice, public hearings and, if needed, a condemnation hearing in which the court assigns counsel to represent affected parties. A supervisor clarified that approving the application starts a legal process rather than immediate construction.

The motion to authorize submission was moved and seconded and carried unanimously. No dissent or abstentions were recorded.

What happens next: staff will file the application with the chief judge and follow the court’s process for public notices and hearings. The board’s public hearing on the Drainage District 6 improvement report is scheduled for March 17 at 9:00 a.m.
