HONOLULU — During a brief Feb. 10, 2026 session, the Hawaii Senate referred Governor's message number 695, which transmits a nomination to the board of directors for the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii, to the Senate Committee on Education.
Madam Clerk announced the governor's message on the floor and the chair formally referred it to the committee. The transcript does not record debate, a mover/second, or a floor vote on the referral; the referral was entered into the record for committee consideration.
Separately, the clerk read miscellaneous communication number 2, a memorandum dated Feb. 10, 2026 from the Senate president and House speaker concerning the renumbering of legislative days because the Legislature was closed on Feb. 9, 2026. The chair instructed the communication be filed.
Senator Fukunaga asked the Senate to welcome students from Mid Pacific Institute visiting in the gallery, saying, “We'd like to also welcome students from Mid Pacific Institute who are here in the gallery. I'd like to ask them to rise to be recognized and welcome to the Senate.” The presiding officer echoed the welcome.
The Senate approved the journal of the preceding day and later adjourned until 11:30 a.m. the following day.
