County accepts $489,800 CMAQ award for University Parks Trail bridge

Ben Pushka told the board Lucas County was awarded $489,800 in Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds to support installation of a bridge crossing on the University Parks Trail, closing the remaining 10 Mile Creek gap between Silica Road and Centennial Road. CMAQ requires a 20% local match; Metroparks Toledo will provide that match.
Pushka said the project connects Secor Metropark to the University of Toledo campus and ultimately to city trails. When the county first applied staff expected a 2028 budget slot but were later notified the project would be in the 2030 state budget window.
A motion to accept the CMAQ award was moved and approved by roll call. No contract or construction schedule details were provided at the meeting; staff indicated the Metroparks would provide the required match.
