Engineer's office secures small grant authorizations and clears property acquisition for Maumee Western/Alban roundabout project

Lucas County Engineer Panunoski briefed commissioners on several transportation and stormwater items and the board approved the package.
The board approved change order no. 1 and final with Ogleby Construction for the county’s 2025 long line painting program in the amount of $4,319.44. Panunoski also requested authorization to apply for and accept an Ohio Environmental Education Fund grant of $50,000 to support education and outreach related to the MS4 stormwater permit; the engineer said the office will run the outreach, purchase some advertising and send direct mail to residents on topics such as preventing grass clippings and pet waste from entering ditches.
Panunoski described an MOU with the Toledo Area Metropolitan Council of Governments for a 2026 stormwater education campaign—funding up to $15,000—and sought authorization to acquire real property and permanent or temporary easements necessary for the US‑20A/Maumee Western Road/Alban Road roundabout project so the project can proceed with right‑of‑way work. The board moved and approved the items by roll call.
