Hazleton Area SD board approves consent agenda, personnel appointments and budget items

The Hazleton Area School District board approved a large consent agenda and several personnel appointments during the meeting, moving through bundled agenda items with routine voice votes.

The board approved the December 18 meeting minutes and the December 25 treasurer’s report. Administration presented blocks of agenda items — curriculum items 1–15, special education item 16, and bundled finance and facilities items — and the board approved each block by single motions. Several items were removed from the published agenda: items 91, 97 and 98 were noted as removed; item 1 previously removed was also referenced. The board also made spelling corrections to personnel names (for example, changing Estefani Nunez Santana and Aurora Felix Segura) and confirmed appointments including a K–2 principal and an acting assistant principal at the high school.

On bills (item 47), the board approved the batch with one recorded 'no' on item 47d. Multiple personnel appointments were approved across pages 10–11; item 99 (a principal appointment) drew at least one formal objection from a board member who said they opposed the position rather than the candidate, but the motion passed.

The meeting contained no formal financial totals for the packages discussed; the treasurer’s report and corrections were recorded in the meeting minutes and the administration noted a revised amount for one item ($305,559.71) and another total ($39,747.87). The board signaled routine oversight and asked for further administrative follow-up on specific items where needed.
