The West Chester Area School Board accepted the resignation of Director Alex Christie and appointed Ramon Jackson to fill the resulting board vacancy at its Jan. 28 meeting.
Jackson, the only candidate present, introduced himself to the board and described his community involvement, experience working with students through motivational assemblies and his work as a union representative for performers. "My name is Ramon Jackson, and I'm seeking appointment to the open school board seat," he said during his remarks.
Board members nominated Jackson, conducted a roll‑call vote and recorded unanimous affirmative responses from participating directors (Director Campbell, Director Dietrich, Vice President Bevilacqua, Director Fleming, Director Fry, Director Long, Director Parkinson and President Grenell were recorded as voting yes). After the vote, Jackson signed the required statement of financial interest and took the oath of office administered at the meeting.
The appointment will run through the first Monday in December 2027, and Jackson said he intends to run in the next election for the seat when the term expires. The board welcomed him and noted next steps for onboarding and committee assignments.
The board also recognized outgoing members and noted that the new appointee completed financial‑interest paperwork before taking the oath.
