Columbus County commissioners approved motions Feb. 20 to establish two public hearings: one for additional funds on the 2023 CDBG-NR project and one for a rezoning request to allow a data storage facility on a one‑acre portion of parcel 103553.
Deputy County Manager Gail requested a public hearing for the CDBG-NR project seeking $6,625,000 in additional grant funds. During discussion a commissioner proposed setting the hearing for March 6 rather than the initially listed March 2; Commissioner Byrd moved to set the hearing and the board approved the motion by voice vote.
Planning Director Kelsey Hammond requested a public hearing for rezoning a one‑acre portion of parcel 103553 at Midway Road and Chadbourne Highway to permit a data storage facility; Commissioner Bullard moved to set the hearing for March 2 at 6:30 p.m., and the board approved by voice vote.
Both hearings will allow public comment on the grant proposal and the zoning change; staff will publish notices with the date and time established by the board.
