The Cuyahoga County Human Resources Appointment and Equity Committee approved the county executive’s appointment of Reneta Williams to the county advisory board on senior and adult services, confirming Resolution 20250209 under suspension of the second reading.
Brendan Doyle, on behalf of the county executive, presented the nomination and said the appointment is made under section 6.04 of the Cuyahoga County Charter. "I am here to recommend the appointment of Reneta Williams to serve... for the term 01/01/2024 through 12/31/2026," Doyle said.
Reneta Williams, speaking to the committee, said she currently works with the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority and has more than 25 years of experience in social services, including work with homeless seniors, vocational rehabilitation and family support programs. "I'm truly committed, passionate about empowering people and especially our vulnerable populations," Williams said.
During discussion a committee member urged the county to consider a dedicated senior levy similar to Franklin County’s program, noting past renewal rates and larger funding levels there. The council member framed the issue as a countywide need for expanded senior services and transportation.
The committee moved and seconded suspension of the second reading and approved the nomination by voice vote. The chair said the resolution will return the following week for formal passage procedures with the executive expected to sign it.
