Marcia Maccabee, president and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Cleveland, told the committee the conference will be hosted in Cleveland July 16—19 and that the affiliate asked the county to sponsor a Tuesday-night reception to introduce visiting CEOs to the city. "The National Urban League Conference is being hosted here in Cleveland by our affiliate July 16 through the nineteenth," Maccabee said. She described the reception as an opportunity to showcase Cleveland and encourage returning visits.
Committee members discussed the three-reading procedural requirement and noted counsel supported moving the item. With no objections, the motion to advance the resolution out of committee passed on a voice vote.
The measure will proceed to the full council for additional readings; committee members said they wanted staff to continue coordinating with counsel on the formal readings and any conditions attached to the award.
