LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio — Rich Donahue, representing America 250 Lawrence County, brought commemorative silver coins, ornaments and a new county coloring book to the commission meeting on Nov. 18 and described how sales will fund local projects.
Donahue told commissioners the commission previously donated to buy coins to seed sales and that the items are available at Macaulay Furniture and Central Hardware and online. He said proceeds will support events and materials, including a coloring book to be given to children served by county children's services and decorations for the Festival of Trees.
Donahue described the coins as 1-ounce Troy silver and said they are priced at about $100 each or roughly $110 if paid by card to cover fees. He estimated the coloring book would cost about $5 once printed, and suggested providing a PDF to schools as a low-cost option for classroom use. The presentation highlighted local history elements included in the materials, such as bridges into Lawrence County and the gravesites of Revolutionary War soldiers found in the county.
