Lawrence County commissioners approve routine permits, personnel promotions and $2,000 wreath donation

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio — The Lawrence County Commission on Nov. 18 approved a slate of routine items, including permits, budget transfers, personnel promotions in emergency medical services and a $2,000 donation to Wreaths Across America to place wreaths at Woodland Cemetery.
Unidentified Speaker 2 moved to approve floodplain permits submitted by the Soil and Water Conservation District; the motion was seconded and commissioners recorded affirmative votes and the motion passed. The commission then approved appropriations and transfers dated Nov. 18, 2025, under $75,000 that were submitted by Dylan Bentley, County Administrator.
The board approved personnel changes in EMS that promoted James Valance, Madison Barber and Dakota Wallace from full-time EMT to full-time advanced EMT. “We’d like to congratulate all of those on their advancement,” said Unidentified Speaker 1 after the vote. Commissioners praised the new advanced EMTs and thanked them for their service.
The commission also voted to authorize the EMS director to sign the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency permit renewal for the Rock Hill Station Sewer; the motion was seconded and approved. Later in the meeting the board agreed to add an agenda item and approved a $2,000 donation to Wreaths Across America for the Woodland Cemetery project. Unidentified Speaker 5 described the volunteer effort led by Sally Inglis and Laura Brown and said the ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 13, with wreath placement to follow at noon.
Most routine motions were moved, seconded and approved by the commissioners during the meeting. The board concluded the public portion of its session by voting to go into executive session to discuss personnel with County Administrator Dylan Bentley and Corey Watson.
What’s next: The commission moved into executive session on personnel matters at the meeting’s close; no further public action on those personnel discussions was recorded.
