Council renews annual fee waivers for longstanding community events, asks staff to review policy

Director Mancini said the city has historically preapproved a set of events (12 typical events including the holiday parade, opening day for Little League and other long‑running community activities) and proposed a 5% inflationary increase to the prior year’s waiver total for a requested preapproval of up to $164,850 for fiscal year 2026–27. Mancini told council that staff will analyze attendance and financials for recipients and work with the finance committee to refine policy, including whether to cap waivers or reassess grandfathered events.
Several councilmembers emphasized the community value of these events while also asking for reports on findings and possible objective criteria to guide future waiver requests. The council approved the updated waiver list.
