The Statesville City Council on Dec. 15 appointed three regular members to the Historic Preservation Commission. Councilors nominated candidates from a presented list; Anna Campbell, an incumbent, received eight votes, Erica Gottholme received seven and Steve Harbour received four.
Council members discussed the nomination and voting process; the attorney confirmed that councilors may nominate more than three candidates but only three positions are available. Following the vote counts announced by staff, the council confirmed the three appointments.
