Cabarrus County commissioner highlights shelter pets, thanks employee nonprofit for donations

Commissioner Laura Lindsey visited the Cabarrus County Animal Shelter to spotlight animals available for adoption and to thank a county employee nonprofit for recent donations.

"Commissioner Laura Lindsey here at the Cabarrus County Animal Shelter, where love is in the air," Lindsey said, introducing the visit and inviting viewers to meet animals up for adoption.

Lindsey introduced Gracie, saying, "This is Gracie. She's a 10 year old gray tabby that was brought into the shelter as an owner surrender. She's a sweet little grandma looking for a new home to live out the rest of her days." She also described Tofu as an "18-month-old pit bull mix who was a stray and been here about 2 months," adding that "He's very energetic and needs a family that has a lot of time and can take him out for a lot of walks."

Lindsey gave a shout-out to the county employee nonprofit Helping Hearts and Hands, "better known as CH3," saying the shelter was the organization's nonprofit of the month. She noted CH3 has been operating since 2004 and that employees supported the shelter through a jeans-day payroll deduction and by bringing toys, food, paper towels and other supplies.
