Board unanimously adopts out‑of‑county tuition rate and 2026–27 fee schedule

At the Feb. 17 meeting, the Williamson County Board of Education approved two budget‑adjacent items by unanimous voice votes.

Superintendent Golden recommended the district adopt the state out‑of‑county family tuition rate for the 2026–27 school year, noting the rate is applicable in limited circumstances (for example, students finishing the school year after moving out of county or employees' children under specific policy allowances). CFO Rachel Farmer reported that in the 25–26 period 216 employees had benefited from the employee‑tuition provision; 132 employees’ children currently pay tuition and 168 employees’ children have passed the five‑year exemption period. Farmer also said the last three‑year average revenue from that tuition is about $143,000.

The board then considered the 2026–27 school fee schedule. Superintendent Golden said the district proposed no change to last year’s approach for secondary curricular fees (noting the state’s curricular‑fee rules) and recommended continuing voluntary elementary fees and recommended extracurricular fees for secondary schools as outlined in the staff memo. The board approved the fee schedule by voice vote, 12 yes, 0 no.
