The Bangor City Finance Committee on Wednesday voted to forward to the full council a recommendation to award a contract to Carpenter Associates for project-management services at the airport, Finance Director Stephanie Kendall said.
Kendall told the committee the airport has a vacant manager of infrastructure and facilities, and "they need project management assistance to keep several critically important capital projects on track while they're looking to fill that position." Funding for the contract was identified from savings and other projects, and the budgeted award amount is $112,200.
Committee members sought clarification that the contract was for a temporary, contracted service rather than a permanent city hire. Kendall said the city is not hiring a permanent employee under the contract, and that the work requested of Carpenter Associates is limited to project-management services while the city recruits for the full-time post.
A member moved to advance the item, another seconded, and the chair declared the motion passed by voice; the committee instructed staff to place the award on the next full council agenda for consideration.
The action advances the procurement to the council; the committee did not take a roll-call vote or record individual votes in the transcript.
Next steps: staff will prepare a contract award recommendation and supporting documents for council consideration and for the contract to be executed if the council approves the award.
