Benton County Commission approves appointments, library and small budget items, and repairs at sports complex

Two time-sensitive capital items for the Benton County Sports Complex were approved after suspension of the rules: $7,500 was appropriated to address an unexpected drainage connection that the contractor discovered during work and said was necessary to complete the drainage project in time for spring tournaments; commissioners were told a cheaper temporary fix would be about $5,000 but that the fuller fix required $7,500. The commission also approved $9,804 to replace two failed backflow preventers on a four-inch water line after repeated rebuild attempts failed and the city of Camden shut off water to the park until replacements are installed.
