Residents press board on vacancies, transparency and pronoun‑notification policy

Kevin Shelley—who said his case against the district under the Sunshine Act was withdrawn—urged continuous attention to transparency and criticized prior scheduling and conduct related to resignations.
On pronouns, public commenter Caitlin Durstein requested a formal policy requiring the district to notify parents when a student indicates they intend to use a different name or pronoun at school, describing a past case she said occurred in the district. Superintendent Doctor Gallagher replied that the district does not follow the practice described and treats each situation individually, emphasizing case‑by‑case handling.
The board did not take immediate policy action at the meeting on these public requests; several items on vacancy procedures and minute detail were already directed to policy committee for revision.
