The Milwaukee School District’s committee voted to waive Administrative Policy 3.09 and authorize a set of professional services and vehicle contracts supported by grant funding.
Superintendent Brenda Cassellius said the waivers are fully supported through grants and will allow contracts to remain in effect for the full duration of the respective grants. The items include professional services for training, supervision and placement of psychology graduate students through the University of Wisconsin System and Alverno College, and vehicle contracts with Illinois Central Bus, LLC and Lakeside Bus of Wisconsin for fully electric, zero‑emission heavy‑duty buses to replace existing gas‑powered buses. "These vehicles are fully electric, 0 emission buses that will replace existing gas powered buses to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions," Cassellius said.
No public comments were received. Director Zombor moved approval of the administration’s recommendation to waive the policy and authorize the contracts; the roll call recorded four ayes and the motion passed 4–0. Administration said the waivers are tied to grant funding; specific contract values were not specified in the spoken record.
