Council approves reappointments, ordinances and funding list; all measures pass unanimously

At its Feb. 9 meeting, the Bethel Park City Council approved a slate of reappointments, ordinances and resolutions — including a $529,424.86 bill list — and authorized referrals for zoning and sewer-plan changes. All formal motions passed on roll call by 8–0 votes.
Bethel Park City Council on Feb. 9 approved multiple reappointments, policy changes and budget items in unanimous votes that closed a routine agenda.
Council moved quickly through a series of motions introduced by council members. Miss Kamenicki led reappointments to municipal boards and commissions (including Steve Gerber to the Building and Fire Code Appeals Board, term to expire Dec. 31, 2028; and appointments to Planning and Zoning with terms to Dec. 31, 2029). The reappointment motion passed on roll call, 8–0.
The council approved a bill list totaling $529,424.86 after Miss Kamenicki moved its adoption and Mister Oakes seconded. The council approved changes to splash park hours and rentals and a park winterization and seasonal-hours policy, each on unanimous roll calls.
Two ordinances addressing tax-collection costs also passed. Miss Garris moved Ordinance 2-9-26a to establish reasonable costs for collection of delinquent Act 511 taxes and to impose those costs on delinquent taxpayers; after roll-call, the motion passed 8–0. The council then approved Ordinance 2-9-26b to authorize solicitor appointment, interest assessment and addition of attorney and collection fees to unpaid real estate taxes and municipal claims; that ordinance also passed 8–0.
Council voted to refer a proposed zoning ordinance amendment that would set specific standards for chickens and ducks to the county planning agency for a 30-day review and to set a public hearing date. The council also approved Resolution R2-9-26B to establish a Junior Council Person program and approved a Planning & Zoning resolution to revise the official sewage facilities plan to include the proposed Rivian Automotive Service Center at the Village Square (the former Bed Bath & Beyond site). Both passed 8–0.
On personnel matters, the council authorized the Civil Service Commission to create a promotional examination for police sergeant and approved the release of Officer Justin McCown from probationary status, effective Dec. 18, 2025; both actions were approved unanimously.
The council adjourned after completing the agenda. No votes failed or were tabled.
