At its meeting the Village of Lincoln Heights council clarified allowable uses of the municipal recycling fund and shared community announcements.
A council member asked what purchases are permitted from the recycling account. A presenter answered, 'If it exists, but we can certainly, utilize that money to buy recycled items. We can also use it to help pay for Rumpke,' indicating funds may be used for recycled goods and recycling service costs so long as expenditures are associated with recycling.
Councilwoman Laverne Mitchell announced the Valley Pantry will be held Saturday, June 1, at Quinn Chapel in Forest Park from 9 to 11 a.m. The chair and council members also thanked the sheriff's office, American Legion, Battle and Sons, Blue Star Mothers and Gold Star families for participating in Memorial Day observances.
Vice Mayor Linda Childs Jeter urged residents to stay engaged and reminded viewers that 'It takes 5 votes in order to make these things happen' — a reminder that council quorum and votes determine whether grant applications and other actions proceed.
What to watch
Residents seeking to use recycling funds for specific purchases or to propose projects should confirm eligibility with the clerk or finance director before spending. The Valley Pantry is scheduled for June 1 at Quinn Chapel.
