Council members and the mayor highlighted upcoming holiday events and a wreath-sponsorship drive.
The city will hold a tree-lighting ceremony on Centennial Plaza on Monday, Dec. 1, with performances by the Taylorsville High School Madrigals and refreshments; staff will arrange music or a Madrigals encore depending on scheduling. The Taylorsville Orchestra will perform Dec. 5 at Benoit Junior High, and Saturday with Santa is scheduled for Dec. 6 at the Taylors Lutheran Heritage Center from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Council and staff also updated the status of the Wreaths Across America fundraiser: the mayor reported 225 wreaths sponsored and noted there were roughly 47 wreaths still to be sponsored at the time of the meeting. Council confirmed the sponsorship cost is $17 per wreath and encouraged residents to contribute. Officials said the Christmas and wreath-laying programs would proceed ‘‘regardless of the weather.’’
The council reminded residents of upcoming meeting dates and local events before adjourning.
