Siri Maine, who oversees Weber County Animal Control operations, said the department has begun updating operational procedures and that cameras will increase accountability and transparency. She described an initial payment of about $219.85, with a larger scheduled payment in November of about $2,600 plus $600.91 for ongoing services. Maine said the department plans to draw on quartermaster and office‑supplies lines this year and anticipates a budget request for 2027 to fund ongoing costs.
Maine said footage will be available to supervisors and subject to GRAMA requests. Commissioners supported the purchase, noting animal‑control encounters can involve disputed accounts and that recorded footage will protect staff and the public. The motion to approve carried by voice vote.
