Taylorsville — At its final meeting of 2025, the City Council recorded unanimous votes on several administrative and safety items.
Minutes and consent: The council adopted the Dec. 3 meeting minutes by motion (mover Paul; second Curtis) with recorded 'yes' votes from Council members Knutson, Barbieri, Burgess, Cochran and Chair Harker.
America250 stipend (Resolution 25‑26): The council approved a resolution accepting a noncompetitive $1,500 stipend from America250 Utah to help mark the nation’s 250th anniversary during Taylorsville Days. The stipend will fund commemorative flags and a small ad hoc committee (administration, Exchange Club, Taylorsville Days committee and a youth council member) to manage distribution and marking. Anna moved the resolution and Kirk seconded; roll call votes were recorded in favor.
Wildland‑urban interface code (Ordinance 25‑15): Captain Rich summarized recent guidance tied to HB 48 and recommended the city adopt the Utah wildland‑urban interface code proactively. He said Taylorsville currently has no properties meeting the statutory threshold that would require immediate action, but adopting the code now ensures consistency across the district and readiness if thresholds are met in the future. The council voted unanimously to adopt Ordinance 25‑15.
2026 meeting schedule (Ordinance 25‑16): Staff noted state law requires the legislative body to adopt the calendar for the coming year. The council discussed whether a July meeting should be held given July 1 activity tied to the 250th anniversary; members decided to adopt the schedule as noticed with flexibility to amend dates closer to the event. The motion to adopt passed by roll call.
Adjournment: The council closed the meeting with holiday wishes and a motion to adjourn by Council member Kurt.
