Medina County commissioners approve package of resolutions on grants, personnel, infrastructure and weekly bills

Planning presented and the board approved a resolution to accept Kleinfelder to assist with PY23 CDBG submittal requirements. The finance director reported amendments to Family First agreements: one grant increase from $280,000 to $285,000 for intake and referral services with Catholic Charities and another increase for a Family First coordinator from $67,000 to $72,000 with the health department. The board approved weekly bills totaling $1,516,105.40.
Human Resources presented a personnel resolution that the board approved covering six new hires across departments, one promotion at Job and Family Services, six rate increases and other staffing changes. The Chief Building Official secured approval for reappointment of Paul Weakley to the fields board and renewal of an agreement with Jared Dickey as master plans examiner. County Administrator Matt Springer presented three items that were approved: vehicle leases for the Medina County Sheriff’s Office (replacing eight vehicles and adding nine), acceptance and award of a low bid by Kavanaugh at $803,000 for a garage project, and an amended lease with Community Action to provide temporary space for MMHA.
Throughout the session commissioners asked for clarifying cost estimates where projects raised design or aesthetic questions (for example, a requested full-brick façade on a Westfield water plant raised an approximate $280,000 premium and staff were asked to return with front-façade-only cost options). The board also ratified an amendment to the Medina County Drug Advisory Committee bylaws to more explicitly reference compliance with open-meetings and public-records provisions. No controversial votes were recorded; roll calls shown in the transcript recorded affirmative votes for listed motions.
