During public comment, two residents described personal housing and public-safety concerns and asked the council for follow-up.
A speaker identified as Maricruz H recounted an incident on Jan. 14, 2026, in which she said her daughter and son-in-law were displaced and that she felt police officers sided with a property-owning family; she said a subsequent police report did not document the physical aggression she reported and asked for assistance. Staff (commander and lieutenant) offered to follow up and get a Spanish-speaking contact to assist.
Alexis Chavez said he and his family rented an ADU where mold was discovered Dec. 10; he said the landlord failed to make promised repairs, that a confrontation led to a police report and that the landlord filed a restraining order against him; the matter is pending in court on March 3. Council connected Chavez with Lt. Woodward and other staff for follow-up and directed staff to reach out.
Council and staff offered to take contact information and pursue follow-up through the police department and appropriate staff; staff said commanders would reach out to the residents.
