Valerie Dela Rosa, chair of Manhattan Community Board 2, told the executive committee that she and District Manager Mark Diller have engaged the New York Peace Institute to develop conflict‑resolution training for the committee, following guidance from the borough president’s general counsel. "I have engaged the New York Peace Institute, to lead the executive committee in a conflict resolution training," Dela Rosa said.
The committee said it will finalize the scope and present training options to members; Dela Rosa added the board would extend the training to the full board if funding allows. The announcement followed updates about reapplications — the board reminded members that reapplications are due Friday, Feb. 27 — and two recent resignations, Ritu Chhatri and Juliette Kaye.
District Manager Mark Diller reviewed election logistics ahead of the full‑board vote in March. He said three people self‑nominated for executive roles: Valerie Dela Rosa for chair, Anthony Wong for treasurer, and Emma Smith for secretary. Diller explained the hybrid electronic ballot process and noted the bylaws require roll‑call eligibility for remote voters; he also outlined the tally committee composition and a scheduled test of the electronic ballot.
Diller flagged upcoming budget engagement opportunities from the city: the Independent Budget Office will host preliminary budget working sessions on March 4 (noon) and March 5 (6 p.m.). The committee encouraged members to participate and to forward committee agendas so the board packet can be assembled on schedule.
The executive committee wrapped its administrative business by asking each committee to identify two Zoom delegates to promote speakers and monitor chat during meetings, and said training materials and one‑pagers will be provided to delegates ahead of future meetings.
The committee approved the January 2026 executive minutes unanimously earlier in the meeting. The board adjourned at 8:06 p.m.
