Committee confirms several reappointments to county boards; one nomination held

Jenkins introduced himself as chief probation officer for Cleveland Municipal Court and described his work supervising domestic intervention and batterers intervention programming.
The committee advanced a set of community-development board nominations: Suzanne E. Hamilton, a senior vice president in commercial real-estate lending at Erie Bank, and Michael Obi, president of Ubiz Venture Capital and a longtime small-business banker, were both recommended for reappointment to the Cuyahoga County Community Improvement Corporation board; both nominations were approved under second reading suspension.
Clerk read Resolution 2025-0124 to reappoint Catherine N. Belk (who introduced herself as Kathy Belk), president and CEO of the Deaconess Foundation, to the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County workforce development board for a term running July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2027. Belk described the foundation’s workforce grantmaking, noted that roughly 60% of county residents earn a family-sustaining wage or less, and highlighted efforts to grow the behavioral-health workforce and to connect residents to living-wage opportunities. The committee approved the reappointment to move forward for second reading.
One nomination, Resolution 2025-0125, was requested by the administration to be held or removed; the chair said the administration will propose an alternate in the near future. Another item, Resolution 2025-0123, was held because an applicant could not attend the meeting.
All confirmed appointments were approved by voice vote during the meeting; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript. The committee adjourned following routine closing remarks.
