Cuyahoga County committee reappoints Anthony Tabarell to Community Improvement Corporation

The Cuyahoga County Resource Appointment and Equity Committee voted April 29 to confirm the county executive's reappointment of Anthony Tabarell to the Cuyahoga County Community Improvement Corporation (CCIC) board for the term Jan. 2, 2025, through Jan. 1, 2028. The committee approved the resolution under a suspension of the rules.

The CCIC serves as the county's review agent for industrial revenue bond financing and economic development lending. A county representative described the corporation as advancing “industrial, economic, commercial, and civic development of Cuyahoga County.”

Tabarell, who identified himself as the current chair of the CCIC board, summarized his background in commercial real-estate lending and said he has served on the board since 2019. He told the committee, “I go by Tony unless I'm in really deep trouble with my mother,” and described the board's work as a “second set of eyes” on county investments. He said the board is composed of both county and private-class members and that “I think it's 11 total” members.

Members asked about how the chair is selected and about recent process improvements. Tabarell said the chair was selected by nomination within the committee and credited recent changes that streamlined loan write-ups and strengthened the loan officer team. Following the discussion a motion to suspend the second reading was made and seconded; the committee approved the reappointment by voice vote.
