Karp, who identified himself as the CEO of Magnet, described his multi‑year service as board chair and said the board’s recent governance changes — including a December 2024 local governance agreement and a structural shift toward nonprofit status — were intended to increase agility and impact. He said the board used a combination of funding, including ARPA allocations, to accelerate sector partnerships and workforce programming, and that those efforts produced roughly "3,000 net new people into manufacturing" over three years.
"Half of our economy here in Cuyahoga County depends on manufacturing," Karp told the committee, and he described a four‑part blueprint the organization uses: recruiting talent in new places, adopting off‑the‑shelf technologies such as robotics, supporting product innovation and providing leadership through sector partnerships. He discussed how AI and embedded machine intelligence are being used in manufacturing to improve processes and productivity.
Committee members thanked Karp for his work and moved to approve the reappointment. The committee did not require suspension of the second reading for this measure. The resolution read into the record was 20250183.
