Ashland County committee cuts price on tax-deeded lot, updates land-records fees

At its Feb. 17 meeting, the Ashland County Zoning and Land Committee voted to lower the listed price of a tax-deeded parcel and to set new listing prices for several other foreclosed parcels. The panel also approved minor updates to the survey review fee schedule and a larger update to the county’s data and map fee schedule.
County staff reported parcel 20104019 had been on the market 72 days with no inquiries at the previous price; staff recommended reducing the price to $6,700 to attract buyers. Pat Kenny moved to approve the change; the motion was seconded and approved.
Staff also presented a batch of "oddball" parcels (many private roads) for new listing values after municipal outreach produced no interest. The committee voted to adopt the new set of prices and asked staff to return if negotiations or counteroffers arise.
On fee schedules, staff made a minor edit adding "condominium" and "unit" to the survey review table. The committee then debated the county’s data/map hourly and minimum charges. Pat Kenny moved to raise the map and data hourly rate to $45 with a $20 minimum charge and quarter-hour billing; the committee approved the motion.
Next steps: staff will lower the parcel price as approved, publish the newly listed parcels, correct a typographical 'minimum' wording in the fee schedule, and notify adjacent landowners if offers are received. The committee scheduled its next meeting for May 5 at 9 a.m.
