TAC releases draft 2026 local federal aid route application after discussion on per‑municipality caps

The LFAR framework sets aside $500,000 over two years for roads with high average daily traffic (ADT) and $500,000 over two years for low‑ADT roads. If the TAC approved the release, Ally (staff) would distribute the application to eligible municipalities.
Committee members, including Emily, raised concerns that in past rounds municipalities with many eligible roads requested large aggregated amounts, creating heavy workloads for PennDOT staff who evaluate conditions. Emily suggested amending the application to cap the number of segments or maximum funding a single municipality can apply for; staff and other members recommended reminding municipalities not to request more than the available subcategory amount (i.e., do not seek more than $500,000 in one subcategory). The TAC voted to release the application for distribution pending the TAC vote and staff will send the materials to municipalities if approved.
