Montgomery County opens spring recreation registration Feb. 18; RecAssist offers fee support

Hammer said registration for most spring programs begins Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 6:30 a.m. for county residents. Residents are advised to create or update accounts on ActiveMontgomery.org before registration day to speed checkout. Hammer said in-person registration is also available starting at 6:30 a.m. the morning of registration at the Department of Recreation administrative office in Wheaton and at county aquatic centers during their posted hours. For assistance, the department provided a customer-service phone number during the broadcast.
Hammer described RecAssist, the department's financial-assistance program, as open for applications. Eligible Montgomery County residents may receive up to $400 per eligible family member in RecAssist funds. She said RecAssist covers 80% of program costs, with the participant responsible for the remaining 20%, and directed listeners to the department website for eligibility criteria and application details.
The department highlighted program variety for spring (aquatics and swim lessons, sports, arts and therapeutic recreation) and urged early registration because many classes fill quickly.
