Council hears updates on cemetery mapping, pickleball project and council vacancy

Alicia told the council that Mona Cemetery received a grant to map gravesites online via GIS and that residents can now look up gravesites and add photos through a link on the city's website. "Mona Cemetery is online," Alicia said, and described headstones and plots as mapped for public access.
On recreation infrastructure, staff outlined plans for a community pickleball court project scheduled to start April 1. Alicia said the city will remove sod and roots in March and that if cement is donated the project's bid may change; she added the city planned to provide a $15,000 down payment to lock tile prices before a March increase: "We are giving them a check, 15,000 down to lock in the price because the price on the tiles that we're purchasing is going up in March." Council discussed surface specifications (four inches of base) and debated court color choices.
Alicia also announced the deadline to apply for a vacant council seat was the next day at 5 p.m., with interviews scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. She noted the interviews would be a public meeting.
