Anaheim Elementary board adopts multiple resolutions, approves labor negotiation steps and appoints Director of Multilingual Education

At its April 9 meeting the Anaheim Elementary School District Board unanimously approved ceremonial resolutions, authorized district and association contract proposals for 2025–26, approved pay and job actions, and adopted a Proposition 98-backed resolution to pursue zero-emission bus grants.
The Anaheim Elementary School District Board of Education unanimously approved a slate of routine resolutions and personnel actions during its April 9 meeting, including steps in the district’s 2025–26 labor negotiations and the appointment of a new Director of Multilingual Education.
Board President Juan Gabriel Alvarez opened the meeting and the board moved through several consent and action items with unanimous votes. The board formally received the 2025–26 initial contract proposal submitted by the Anaheim Elementary Education Association (AEEA), then approved and directed staff to present and proceed with the district’s own 2025–26 initial contract proposal to the AEEA as part of the negotiation process.
Also approved were ceremonial resolutions recognizing educational staff and appreciation days across the district (including Resolution 2024-25/44 designating May 14, 2025, as California Day of the Teacher and other resolutions acknowledging classified employees and school safety staff). The board approved a pay increase to the certificated substitute teacher salary matrix effective April 16, 2025.
On personnel, the board adopted a new job description for the Director of Multilingual Education (placing the position on range 16 of the certificated management salary schedule) and approved the appointment of applicant 04092025-01 to that role; an effective date was recorded as “to be determined.” The board publicly congratulated Magali Rodriguez on the appointment.
In administrative services, trustees adopted a resolution to apply Proposition 98 funds to support grants administered by the California Air Resources Board and the California Energy Commission for zero‑emission school buses and infrastructure. The board also approved a resolution supporting district-wide standardization of classroom audio and campus communication systems to improve instructional consistency and campus safety.
All recorded motions on April 9 were approved by voice vote with the board announcing each motion as carried 4–0. The board adjourned the meeting at 8:16 p.m.; its next regular meeting is scheduled for May 14, 2025.
