Three Rutherford County students were named county winners in the Amazing Shake competition and will represent Rutherford County Schools at the Atlanta Global Amazing Shake at the Ron Clark Academy.
Marissa Sparshu of the Chamber of Commerce told the school board the countywide competition this year included 38 students and emphasized skills such as proper handshakes, networking, interview technique and composure under pressure. "The dynamic competition helps students to strengthen and showcase their interpersonal skills," Sparshu said.
The board announced Erin Berry of Rutherford County Virtual School, Ellie Turner of Stewart's Creek (eighth grade) and Knox Guillen of Wilson Elementary as the three winners. Each student offered brief remarks at the podium. Turner said the competition "definitely grew me as a person and my confidence," and Berry called the program "eye-opening" for communication skills.
Board members and staff praised the Chamber partnership and the student participants. The board noted continued community and volunteer support for the program and encouraged continued engagement with local business partners.
