Sarah Rojas, treasurer of the Association of Cypress Teachers, addressed the board on Oct. 10, praising Luther Elementary staff while also voicing staff concerns about rising district demands.
"The increasing demands from the district has Luther teachers feeling unsupported and unheard by district administrators," Rojas said, noting the uniqueness of the campus program and a need for more targeted support. She also highlighted successful campus activities, including a strong Apex fundraiser and sixth-grade camp fundraising efforts.
Why it matters: Teacher morale and support tie directly to classroom conditions and student outcomes. The union asked that board members hear staff concerns and take action to provide needed support, while also recognizing staff accomplishments.
Next steps: Rojas closed by urging trustees to consider the reported concerns and to engage with school staff to identify supports that address program-specific needs.
