Fullerton board honors students chosen for regional and state music honors

The Fullerton School District recognized dozens of elementary and junior-high students who were selected to Southern California and statewide honor ensembles; teachers and parents joined students for certificates and photos.
Fullerton School District trustees paused regular business on Feb. 17 to recognize elementary and junior-high students chosen for regional and state instrumental and choral honor groups.
Phil, the district’s music lead, introduced the students and thanked the music teachers who prepared them. "Fullerton School District is fortunate to have robust music programs at our elementary and junior highs and dedicated educators who have nurtured our students' individual talents," he said.
Students from Beechwood, Fissler, Laguna Road, Parks, Sunset Lane and other schools were called to the dais to receive certificates and pose for photos. Honorees included Elizabeth Budiantoro (Parks, Southern California Vocal Association Honor Choir), Alicia Lee (Parks, All-State Honor Choir), Preston Chun (Beechwood, California Band Directors Association Concert Band), and several others selected for Southern California and state ensembles.
Trustees and staff joined students and teachers for a group photo and refreshments. The recognition underscored district officials’ emphasis on arts programming during a meeting that also reviewed academic and budget matters.
The district said teachers and parents should remain for group photos and that gluten‑free cupcakes were available for students following the ceremony.
