The Warrick County Solid Waste Management District Board met at noon on Feb. 19, 2025, and voted to accept a $17,600 bid from Renewable Resources for a 2003 CAT/Freightliner truck the board had declared surplus. Sherry Severs, acquisitions administrator, told the board the 23‑year‑old machine had been out of service for eight to nine months, had estimated repair costs of $11,000–$14,000 and a trade‑in value of $5,000; she said the sale was advertised twice in compliance with the cited IC procurement rules.
Severs recommended the board accept the highest responsible bid under the procurement statute cited in the meeting. "All sales shall be made to the highest responsible bidder, which at this time is Renewable Resources," Severs said. After brief discussion about whether transportation costs had been considered, the board moved, seconded and carried the motion to accept the $17,600 bid unanimously.
The board also handled routine financial business. Members approved monthly claims totaling $203,109.10, and authorized adding a previously finalized plumbing claim for Helms Plumbing (APV12861, check #10363) for $2,835 to next month’s docket so the vendor could be paid. The controller reported a January ending balance of $4,652,241.62 and requested authorization to lease a Ricoh IMC 32320F through the existing Alpha Laser contract to replace a failed office printer; the lease motion was moved, seconded and carried.
Operations staff provided an update on facility performance and upcoming equipment. "It was a pretty good month," Freddy said of January operations, reporting seven truck shipments and a contamination rate under the 10% goal. Staff said the new baler is expected in April; Freddy recommended having two to three representative bales of each material on hand to support vendor training. He also described necessary electrical work for a large control panel, which will require concrete work and coordination with Sims Electric and Bridal Electric to avoid damaging a roughly $96,000 piece of equipment.
Freddy invited board members to a Household Hazardous Waste task force tour of the facility on March 4 at 9 a.m.; about 20–30 attendees are expected, with a follow‑up meeting and briefing at Freedman Park featuring CNI Electronics.
The meeting included routine procedural actions (approval of minutes, claims, and equipment leases) and operational updates; where votes were taken the motions carried as recorded. The board recorded one abstention on approval of minutes (Sarah Seaton).
