Hinsdale says $1.092 million federal grant awarded for 6th Street reconstruction; pavilion design selected

Village President Hart told the board on Feb. 17 that a federal grant request submitted on the village’s behalf has been signed by the president and awarded to Hinsdale, securing $1,092,000 to support the 6th Street reconstruction and utility project.
Hart said he had spoken with Congressman Chewy Garcia, who helped move the request forward, and he thanked the congressman, village staff, the 6th Street residents who advocated for the project, and predecessor Tom Collie for roles in the original submission. Hart added the village is still awaiting formal terms and conditions for the grant and will provide project timelines and funding specifics once those details are finalized.
Hart also said the Pavilion Design Committee unanimously selected a design for a pavilion commemorating America’s 250th birthday; the village will release the design for public comment and plans to include the project in a forthcoming RFP.
