Chair Siffler said the 2021 Illinois Safety Act required agencies to implement body‑worn cameras, and that Hinsdale’s current body and in‑car camera systems were at the end of their useful life. The proposed contract, not to exceed $389,776.50, covers hardware, evidence management software, installation and on‑site training, with FOIA‑processing features and integration with DuPage County dispatch noted in the presentation.
President Hart recused himself from discussion and voting on the matter because, he said, his wife’s company resells a competitor’s products in a different product line and he had consulted the village attorney. The motion to waive competitive bidding and approve the Axon agreement passed on roll call with the required two‑thirds majority.
