County confirms final FEMA payments for 2024 storm damage; department heads review 2027 health-plan options

Separately, department heads reviewed proposed health-insurance plan options for 2027. Staff explained the standard plan and a high-deductible plan side by side: sample figures discussed included a single deductible of $1,500 and a family deductible of $3,000 under one option and higher deductibles under a high-deductible plan with proposed county contributions to health savings accounts. Department heads requested a meeting for employees and spouses to present details and answer questions and suggested the board discuss the options further at an upcoming budget workshop.
The board took no final action on the insurance plan at the meeting; staff said they will return with final recommendations during the budget process.
