County sewer locator says grease, wipes clog Kings Road lines; plans flushing and treatment

A county sewer locator told attendees that a camera inspection on Kings Road found grease in the sewer main that he said appears to originate from restaurants along Atlanta Highway and that the county will send the line to be flushed and treated.

The locator said crews used a T66 camera to "inspect the main, inspect the stub," and that "we're the only sewer locators for the county." He described seeing grease accumulate in lines and foam that leads to blockages farther downstream from household sinks.

"We've seen that there was grease in the lines that comes off Atlanta Highway off those restaurants," he said. He added that he will "send this line in to be, flushed and treated for the grease, problem that's here." The worker also warned that baby wipes and other items flushed down toilets are a frequent cause of clogs. "Baby wipes, I see a lot of those clogging up stubs in homes that could easily be prevented if they just put it in the trash," he said, urging residents to change disposal habits.
