Sharon Nichols updated the council on Pleasant Green Cemetery activities and the community partnership with Wreaths Across America. She reported four burials and five plot sales since November, two new headstones and outreach from organizers to place wreaths on veterans’ graves around Dec. 13 or 15.
"We have 324 veterans buried at our cemetery," Nichols said, adding that volunteers may only be able to place wreaths at about 200 graves this year because some veterans’ plots lack headstones or clear veteran markers. Nichols said she has been coordinating with an organizer (she named Nicole Whitman) and will assist volunteers in locating unmarked veteran graves where possible.
Council members asked whether volunteers and local auxiliaries will be available and whether local volunteers in Utah can augment the effort; Nichols said some volunteers are available locally and she will provide photos to staff for the city website. Council thanked Nichols and expressed support for the volunteer effort.
