Alamo Heights board approves TEKS verification for new K'12 Bluebonnet math adoption

Walker told trustees the district contacted 15 other districts using the materials and conducted a field visit to Boerne ISD to review the curriculum in practice.
Walker said instructional-materials funding has declined since the pre-pandemic period ("our funding before COVID was about $1,000,000 every 2 years"), that prior local adoption occurred in 2014, and that market pricing for math materials has risen (Walker cited an historical benchmark of $42 per student for an eight-year adoption versus current market prices of $50—75 per student per year). He described local support systems such as a "novel rationale" template and family-notification processes for non-core readings.
A trustee moved the TEKS verification and a second was recorded; the board approved the TEKS verification by voice vote with the chair announcing "motion carries." The board did not record a roll-call tally in the public transcript. Trustees described the adoption as addressing fragmented materials and providing consistent supports for teachers and families.
