Representative McClintock moved and explained an amendment to clarify and limit appraisers’ liability to clients and named intended users and to define appraisal reports as prepared solely for stated intended users. The committee adopted the amendment and then reported substitute House Bill 2,477 out of committee with a due-pass recommendation; staff recorded 15 members present and 15 voting in the affirmative.
McClintock said the amendments put additional guardrails on appraisal reports and reflected work with the Office of the Insurance Commissioner and appraisers. The substitute was advanced by unanimous committee vote and will proceed through the legislative process.
