Cypress board approves grants, contracts and personnel salary changes

At its Dec. 16 meeting the Cypress School District board approved multiple contracts, grant ratifications and personnel compensation adjustments.
The board ratified a memorandum of understanding with the Orange County Superintendent of Schools for the OC Math Leads series, noting a $10,000 grant to support the district’s preparation for a future state textbook-adoption process. Dr. Gibbs and Mrs. Taylor described the state adoption pathway and said the grant will fund a small team of district math leads to participate in the program.
The board also ratified a master agreement with LYNX for sign language and interpreting services (covering 11/21/2024–06/30/2025) and approved a subscription purchase with News LA for Clara J. King Elementary (total cost $6,720). Staff said the King purchase is paid from the school’s site budget funds; similar opportunities exist at other schools but were not purchased centrally.
Personnel and compensation actions included approving a revised job title and salary range for a lead transportation trainer (retitled lead bus driver/trainer) with a salary-range adjustment effective Dec. 17, 2024; a revised classified substitute salary schedule effective Jan. 1, 2025 (designed to meet minimum-wage and recruitment needs); and a revised management salary schedule adding superintendent salary information.
The board approved filing a notice of completion for the districtwide summer deferred maintenance project by MP SAL with a total project cost of $577,870.70; trustees praised facilities staff for completing the work without change orders. All items on the consent and action agendas were carried by voice vote as presented.
