The Cypress School District board completed its annual organizational business Dec. 16, electing its leadership for 2025 and approving key calendar items.
Trustee Sandeep nominated Troy Tanaka for board president; the nomination was seconded and approved by voice vote. Trustees also elected Trustee Sandeep as vice president and Trustee Hayashida as clerk. The board appointed the superintendent to serve as board secretary per board bylaws and chose a parliamentarian as required by board policy.
Members discussed the proposed 2025 schedule of regular board meetings and ultimately agreed to move the January meeting from Jan. 16 to Jan. 14 to give staff additional time to prepare materials. The board also adopted the 2025 governance calendar, noting only minor layout changes and clarified how collective bargaining items will appear on future agendas.
By voice vote the board also adopted the 12th edition of Robert's Rules of Order as the district's parliamentary authority. Board members did not disclose individual recorded tallies during these voice votes; each motion was announced and carried during the meeting.
